The M.E. Davenport Foundation of Grand Rapids is supporting the Women's Center with a $105,000 grant that includes a $45,000 matching gift opportunity. Foundation Trustee Mary Sullivan presented the first installment to the Women’s Center on Thursday, May 26.
“Our ability to truly affect the lives of abused women and their children is very much tied to our ability to help them feel safe, to put a roof over their heads, and to assure them they do not need to fear where their next meal will come from,” said Women's Center Executive Director Beth Casady. “No one can focus on life changing decisions and actions if their and their children's basic needs aren't met. Harbor House is our community's answer to this first crucial step in helping to create lives free of violence.”
