The snowy owl was set free. Jenn was thrilled to be able to hold the owl and set her free and she flew off strongly. A good crowd attended despite the snow, and the MJ and TV6 both covered it. Then Sage got on Kathy's glove for pictures. Jenn donated $600 for the snowy, Kathy $300 for Sage, and additional donations from the crowd means that more than $1,100 was raised for the Women's Center. Thanks to all who made this a great success, and thank you Chocolay Raptor Center!! Marquette Unitarian Universalist Congregation FUNdraiser for Marquette Women's Center & Harbor House3/11/2016 On February 28th 2016 the Marquette Unitarian Universalist Congregation held a FUNdraiser for the Women's Center and Harbor House. It was an evening of Entertainment by: Michael Waiteand Dylan Trost & Kerry Yost along with refreshments.
The Marquette Downtown Development Authority recently presented $1,200 to the Women's Center, using proceeds from the annual Ladies Night in downtown Marquette. At the check presentations are, from left: Tara Laase-McKinney, DDA events and promotions coordinator; Rebecca Salmon, DDA assistant director; Alisha Young, Women's Center program director; Beth Casedy, Women's Center executive director; Michelle Fortunado, Women's Center sexual assault program coordinator; DDA Executive Director Mona Lang; Myra Zyburt, downtown Marquette farmers market manager; and Cindi DePetro, Women's Center office coordinator.

Although the act of giving is known to be selfless, it should not go unnoticed. The Women's Center would like to send a warm Thank You to all the generous people and organizations that sent in donations during this holiday season. We truly appreciate all that you have helped to accomplish, such as helping to grant the wishes of those less fortunate. A big thank you to Marquette West Rotary, Integrated Wellness Chiropractic, BioLife Plasma, Grandchamp, McBride & Prophet, Brookridge Heights Assisted Living, TWU Local 574 and the many community members. The Golf Committee of the Marquette Rotary Club presents Alisha Young and Bob Knaus of the Women's Center with $6,200.
With Rotarians Jon Christianson , Ted Finco, Rich Tegge, Ashley Nault, Kristin Matthews Derocha, Carolyn McDonald, Rick Holmes, and Michele Butler A big WOW to Chelsea Marta and the whole community!! Chelsea organized Purses with a Purpose and begin collecting purses filled with health/beauty items so that they can be given to women whom are survivors of domestic/sexual violence. The community donated over 800 purses!!!!!! The purses have been distributed to 5 Upper Peninsula shelters. A big thank you to Midway rentals for donating a trailer to transport all the purses to the Women's Center. |
